Hello All, I'm new to this board.

Recently, I've become interested in Search Engine Optimization and would like to find some resources on the internet. Can you post some related links?

Thanks!

http://www.trellian.com - www.trellian.com - searchenginewatch.com - http://www.sitepronews.com - www.sitepronews.com - and millions more... Don't believe everything you read though - Some (a lot actually) is total BS.

It's a nightmarish topic for those who have to do it...

Allright, need some advices? here you go:

1. Use proper keywords in title and description of every page. But you better form complete sentenses, since Title is visual for every user. Don't overuse them, or it will be considered as spam by search robots. If you care about only one word (let's say "Forum") - just type name of your site and word Forum in the title and description (you need to have sitename in title because of netiquette). Searchengine robots are making comparisons how often webpage uses the word (I mean keyword). I'll give you two titles for example:

a) Web Wiz Forums

b) Web Wiz Forums: Search engine optimization advise

So the a) case will have highest priority in searchengine ranking.

2. Create proper META description and keywords using the logic, described above.

3. Use necessary keyword in the text of html document. Highlight it where possible with bold font and/or header tags. Searchengine robots cares about that. I know that <h1> tag can screw the design of your page (where applicable, i.e. design exist) but that's the way searchengine robots are making their priorities and unfo we can do nothing about it, just screw our designs :(

p.s. for searchengine requests I care the most - my websites are in top 5 of google, yahoo etc.

Where in the world did you hear that bold text is more important than regular text for search engine spiders?

Also, to get your site in the top ranks, make sure to have people link to it!

About bolding and headings, search engines to take this into account, but if you do it too much, search engines will consider it SPAM.
