Did a quick check and a lot of airlines, airports and manufacturers already registered them but seem not to have them pointing anywhere yet

for airlines or aviation companies.. this is not expensive...

really I didn't know before that .aero domains exists... i read it in a thread here within the posts... I am hosting a website for an aviation services company.. and will tell you whether they accepted having a .aero domain by this  price or not...

Well, unless their preferred domain name is taken already, i would still go with a .com address. It's widely accepted as the popular TLD for domains.

True, though I like the idea of having it a little organized.

Well, I'm all for being organized, but charging $300 for a non-popular TLD is rediculous when i can get a .com for $9.00 per year.

I think that they made those domain suffixes because they knew that the big companies would buy them no matter what to protect their name.

I think for big companies.. a $300 is less than the renting fees they pay monthly in any of its place anywhere... so, why not pay a $300 for their location on the net per 2 years....

It may be expensive too because it is rarely sold.. it is very specialized....

but just buy it to protect their name..protect their name from what??? if their competitors registered it before them, these competitors will get bankrupt ...

You can register .aero-domains at ICANN-Registrar Secura:

Can't do that, domain name should be related to your company name, identity, or trademark.

<edit> That means that TWA can't get aa.aero
