Can Web Wiz Site News be integated with Web Wiz forums? What I would like ideally is for the news to appear right above the forum header bur below the login/memberlist.search, etc. stuff. Anyone have any idea if this is possible.

If it isn't possible to do so is there anyway to add announcements to the main forum page in a similar manner?

Also is there a limit to the number of characters that can appear in a post?

  1. Without having ever used Web Wiz Site News, I'd say yes. The includes/navigation_buttons_inc.asp file contains, appropriately enough, the navigation buttons, try altering that as necessary.
  2. Yes, alter the default.asp file.
  3. The most text that can be stored in one field in the database is 64,000 characters, which should be enough for any post .

Somewhere out there lurks a person stupid enough to sit at his computer for an extremely long period of time and type out the book. Then, late at night, he clicks 'Post Reply', it tells him it is too long, he clicks 'Back', but, woe betide him, its gone!  Sunrise finds him lying dead on the pavement below the window of his 45th floor apartment... (to be continued, maybe)

Most people would post a link or instructions on how to find it .

There is a limit to the ASP request object that means that it can not hold more than 100kb of data.

As the request object also holds other data as well as the post form data such as cookies, browser details, page refering, etc. The amount of characters that ASP can handle in a post depends on other outside influences, such as if other cookies have been set by other pages on the site and how large these cookies are, the type and version of browser the person is using, the refering page, the length of the URL to the file, etc., etc.
