Hi there,

I have sucessfully installed, or thought I had Web Wiz Forums and while it works perfectly on my local LAN I can not seem to login from the internet.

I get the login page, but when I enter my credentials I get Sorry, only members with sufficient permission can access this page.

I have checked cookies etc are enabled, event logs are clear etc...

Any suggestions ?

thanx

If you do a quick search of the forums there are 100's of posts on this issue which comes up almost everyday.

The main course for this is if you use domain name masking, redirection, forwarding, IP address masking etc. to connect to your web site.

This is because web browsers for security reasons can only read in cookies set by that web site, if you don't connect directly to your web site then your web browser will not be able to associate the cookies with your web site and so can not read them back in.

boRg !

Thanks for the quick response ! I am using a combination of these things, http forwarding and a natted connection to a router that then port forwards. I guess I am on a hiding to nowhere. It there another mechanisim I can use as the product seems to fit my needs in every other way !

Unless you can write cookies and read them back in from your web site then you will be very limited on any product of this type.

boRg,

I changed my setup so the site is now accessed directly (Albeit still behind a natted connection) and now all works perfectly.

Thanks for you help !
