Subject: Host to just hold images
Date Posted: 13 August 2003 at 1:18pm

hey all, i recently got kicked off by iPowerweb.com, which all i did was use them to hold images.. bastards never even gave no warning, just bam.. account turned off

so now i am looking for somewhere to host about 300 megs in images that use up about 15-20 gigs of transfer per month.....  i dont need scripting/database/email-server, just FTP access and thats it....

anyone have some good recommendations that won't break my bank account (already paying $240 a month for my web server)

thanks in advance

i'm not looking for free hosting....

i really liked gearhosts price vs space and bandwidth. BUT... reading their usage policy, what i need to do (just simply store jpg files there and link to them from my web server) is not within usage guidelines :(

any other suggestions??

I would call gearhost and ask them, because i don't see where it's not within their usage policy unless the images are unappropriate...

Customers may not run IRC, bots or clients on shared servers. Unacceptable uses also include, but are NOT limited to: Bulk emailing, unsolicited emailings, newsgroup spamming, pornographic content, illegal content, copyright infringement, trademark infringement, warez, cracks, software serial numbers, and/or anything else determined by GearHost to be unacceptable use of GearHost's services including abuse of server resources.

I would give them a call as well as they are usually very good at changing accounts to suit your needs.

Also if you could mention you have been refereed from this site

i pay $240 a month for dedicated hosting... my site is way past the point of no return of being able to be handled within "shared" server resources...

this second needed host is simply to hold images and allieviate bandwidth off the main web server... as said, doesnt matter what OS it is, dont need email, dont need scripting, dont need database access... just FTP, space, and bandwidth.....  but its gotta be in the range of 20-25 gigs a month in bandwidth

Hope you mentioned this site as a referal as I need as many referals as possible to keep my costs down as this site is now using well over 100gig of bandwidth each month.

Also if people can click the banner in the left menu to GearHosts it will help as well

of course i did

i have yet to sign up for an account just yet, i am still having a hard time dealing with a fact that my site in question turned from "hobby" (read: "cheap for me to host") into a site with almost 30,000 signups (now to cost me $300+ monthly)

The download files are on other servers, the 100gig is just web pages and images.
