I am developing an e-training program for our users to use your bulletin board (which I will show you when I am done). As I am writing the training program, I cannot find a definition for "Active Topics" -- I am not a sophisticated bulletin board user so I don't know from experience what that means and I can't find the definition on your website, in help, or in the bulletin board.

Active topics is basically a shortcut to enable the user to the all new posts made in topics since his/her last visit, they can just go straight to active topics and catch up rather than having to go through the forum and check for new posts.

As Pam said, the main function is to show the user which topics have been posted in since they last visted the forum. With this software, you can also select a time range of your own to show active topics within, for example the last week.
