Found another great site I wanted to share. This one allows you to take a large url and compact it into something a little smaller. I found it useful when trying to add something like the url to an image in a signature on a Web Wiz Forum. Maybe you will find other uses for it also.

Check it out here: http://compacturl.com/cgi-bin/compact - http://compacturl.com/cgi-bin/compact

Example: http://forums.webwiz.net/forum_posts.asp?TID=1&PN=1&FID=1&PR=3 - http://forums.webwiz.net/forum_posts.asp?TID=1&PN=1&FID=1&PR=3

was converted to http://compactURL.com/xkot - http://compactURL.com/xkot

It's short.
If you use plain text emails, then your URL will get cut off and move to the next line if it's to long and then the email program will not detect it as a complete URL and only hyperlink part of it.

I have that problem with the activation email these forums send out. Especially if you have ? and querystrings. I hate copying and pasting the URL back together.

So, if their site goes down, then all of your "compact url's" are useless?

This is true of any site whether it is using Compact URL or the real URL correct? This is the nature of the internet, site's go down.
