Subject: Forum User Group Permissions

Everything is running great as far as the forum goes, but when I went to set permissions for the groups I encountered the following:

1. the file 'frame_set.asp' in the address bar brings up the permissions page, but the selection box pull-down is empty (no user groups).

2. If I navigate to 'Create User Group Permissions For', I can see the user groups here and it allows me to set permissions. When I click on the 'Create User Permissions' button the following error is displayed:

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005'

[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] You cannot add or change a record because a related record is required in table 'tblForum'.

/forum/admin/create_group_permissions.asp, line 128

I checked the error codes here on this site but didn't find any mention of this error. I looked in the table and everything seems in order.

Assume that the forum is looking for the table 'tblPermissions', it is there but is empty.

My questions are:

1. If I enter the group names into the db using Access (locally) and upload it, would this error be fixed?

2. What else might be causing this error if number 1 does not repair it?

Thanks in advance for any light that anyone can shed on this.

Most forum errors are coursed by corrupted files, try reuploading all the files again.

That did it! I did a databse repair in Access and sent it back up and all is working correctly.

Thanks for the quick response.

I have a problem. I tried the above and I get the below message

"Sorry, only members with sufficient permission can access this page.

A security error has occurred with authentication.
Please ensure that all cookies are enabled on your web browser, and you are not using a saved or cached copy of the page."

I have full admin support but this error pops up.

I'm tring to add another non-ladder category.

I have cookies enabled and I have logged off and back on incase corrupted cookie. I have also uploaded all files to the site again. Im using 7.5a now.

Any suggestions please

cheers

Make sure you have replaced all the files in the admin area with the ones found in version 7.51a

Sorry, I have the same issue, and ended up posting in another section then I found this one posted  But I did an upgrade, with the above. Pulled everything and copied all files as a fresh install, then copied over the old database. It works ok with the sample database, but not with the previous database. It does let me login just fine, but won't let me into the admin section.

Thoughts?

I got it!!  Found the database upgrade file here on this forum which upgrades the database from 7.01 to 7.5, which fixed the problem.
