Greetings,

I guess I should first start by stating that my computer skills are extremely limited and at probably the most basic level. Much of what I have been reading here is Greek to me.

I have two sites I have added the Web Wiz Forums to and I have a few problems and a few questions that I was hoping one of you experienced people would be kind enough to help me out with.

PROBLEMS

·       When one clicks on the Emoticon Smilies button nothing happens.

·       When one clicks on the Forum Codes during the registration process nothing happens.

·       I tried to set up the E-mail Activation of Membership under the Admin E-Mail Notification Setup however it gives those who register and error message.

Questions

·       Can I change the Forum Rules and Policies on the Register New User page so that they can be site specific?

·       When I registered here, how did you get it to ask for my IM Information and the like and can I add a place for the users name as well?

·       Can I enlarge the Avatar area to be greater than 32x32 pixels, I have seen the 64x64 and 100x100 pixels but have been unsuccessful in getting my boards to accept them as they compress it to the 32x32?

I apologize for asking questions that seem so basic to many of you and that have been answered in some other threads but I just didn’t understand what you guys were saying. I sure hope this doesn’t mean you think I have no business trying to set up these boards on my sites.

I sure would appreciate any help you can offer me, Please feel free to either respond here or e-mail me at mailto:Tim@Durham.US - Tim@Durham.US .

BTW: The two sites I am having problems with are http://www.socalsinker.com/ - http://www.SoCalSinker.com and http://www.durhams.us/ - http://www.Durhams.US

Thank you again for your patience with a not so savvy computer person.

Well,

If you read these questions in other threads and didn't understand the way to solve them...

Then I think you really should put some time and learn more, there is not many ways to answer these questions differently.

You can learn, everybody can, I learn (not very much yet but I'm in my way) and I can assure you that when I find this forum I didn't even know what asp means...

Try the tutorials here and the ones in other sites. The begginig is a little hard but then you start to figure out how things work, and it's worthy it.

  • I tried your forum and the Emotion Smilies pop-up works for me, if you have something that disables pop-ups it wont work. (Also if your Java Script is disabled on your browser it will not work)

  • To use e-mail you need to run a special program on the computer that runs your website, it's called a mail server. You have to talk to your host about the use of SMTP server for your website.

  • You can add to the Forum Rules and Policies but you should not delete anything from there.

  • The IM Information is only for the new version of the forum that is still in it's test stage.

  • You can up the avatar size but that would mean you have to edit the forum code. I dont think you should do it. It can also have a negative effect on the forum tables. So dont bother
