I've got the forum embedded within a new site I just put up.  It sizes just fine on the first page, but none of the others.  Once you click past the first page.  I'm not sure what is forcing the forum to be so wide, but it reuires scrolling at resolutions less than 1280x1024.

Here is the link http://www.swg-raven.com/forum - http://www.swg-raven.com/forum

Please help me get this to resize.

Cant see any sizing issues myself, but the fact you have used Dreamweaver comes as no suprise. Sorry.

there isn't a sizing issues on the first page.  It just when you click on something.  Dreamweaver is a big help when there willbe multiple people editing the site.  The site is templated, so certain people can edit only certain parts of the site.

I'm confused.  I have looked at it on several different systems.  The first page that shows all forums is fine.  But then I click on general (this forum doesn't require login.)  and I have to scroll to the right in order to see the whole forum.  What browser are you using?  Are you on windows or mac?  Are you even clicking into any of the forums, or just looking at the first forum page.  I just wanted to make sure that we are looking at the same pages. Here is a link to one of the forums.

in order to read anything you have to scroll to the right.

Is anyone seeing what I'm talking about?

Try pitting the whole page within a table with a width of 100%

At 1024x768 there isn't a lot of room left for the forum. I think it's going to look pretty squished.

Try changing the 4th TD in your header (first link above). It currently says:

<TD width="100%" ROWSPAN=2 background="/images/template/header_bkg_tile.jpg">

I tried copying just the HTML from this page and it was too wide when previewed in HomeSite (just as it is online), but when I took out the width="100%" it fit just fine in a 900 pixel wide browser window.

I don't know what the graphics will look like though, I only had the empty placeholders, but that might be the fix to your problem.

Thank you so much.  I'll see if I can fix this.  The issue is that if I take out the width="100%", then my header becomes really ugly real fast.  That is what is telling the header to scale and tiles the background behind it.  I will see if I can find a solutions that will work without having to write some funky resize script.

What is weird is that it works with the default.asp page of the forum, but not with any of the others, and since it is an include for the header, none of the tags chagne from the default page to the other forum pages, except for the forum stuff only.  The header stays the same.  I'm not sure why it works on one page and not the others.  I will see what I can do.

I'm almost done with my other project and then will be able to mess with this again.

Again.. Thanks

I didn't look at another other page, sorry. But since you really don't need it to be 100%, but need it stretched, maybe something like 50% will work? Worth playing around with those numbers.

Hopefully that works. I know how frustrating these formatting issues can be.

Good luck.

Oh, by the way, joshack, I forgot to mention... AWESOME looking site. One thing I noticed, I have no idea what your site is about or for, and I don't see anything on your home page or your FAQ about the purpose of the site. In your FAQ you answer questions about joining, but unless I happen to know you or one of your members personally, I doubt I would know what it is I was joining, or why I'd want to.  I would suggest some kind of explanation on the home page.

I realize that was all off topic, but I meant to include those comments at the end of my last post and hit Post Reply a little too quick.

It is set at 50% now.  So it doesn't rip graphics apart unless you have larger resolutions like (1600x1200).  But I think that nobody other than me will see it this large.

I'll probably write something that will change that percentage based upon the users resolutions, or better yet, browser size.  But unless I have the script execute on resize, some people may resize the window after it is created.

If this does happen, then the user will just have to suffer with ugly headers, until they size it back or click on the next link.  With it being a forum, I imagine most people own't be staring at the header too long.  They will eiather scroll downt o read the thread, or click on something to move on to the next topic.

we just started a guild for star wars galaxies (MMORPG).  This is a place for guild members to put up their screenshots, and post things that they need or saw in the game of interest.

I'll put something in there.  I havn't touched the site all weekend.  I have a program to deliver on monday, and it still has a few bugs in it.  The site still needs a lot of work. It is far from done.  I will be adding a photo gallery, and some other tools that will help members find things in the game.  I'm still in the process of creating the graphics to fill the other pages.
