My server is http://www.avahost.net/index.html - http://www.avahost.net/index.html  and they have a control panel where you can have upto 3 databases. and they have a mysql account. I downloaded the Download Web Wiz Forums  and unzipped it, and then I uploaded it to my server using mfrontpage, I tried changing the sql_server_connection and I could never get it to work right. I know that I can run this script on my server because they have the tools to manage mysql in the control panel. my website is http://www.kyvoters.com - http://www.kyvoters.com and I use frontpage 2002 to manage my site. if someone could give me complete instructions on how to make this work from a to b then I would pay them by paypal or they could set it up for me. email me at mailto:beagle@vci.net - beagle@vci.net and i will get back with you. I have deleted the program from my server to start fresh, and i kept all the files in the same directory when I uploaded them.

You need to use access or sql server for the database

I installed access 2000 on my computer as well, the sql server i am not so sure about, I'm thinking that my host is sql server compliant, is that the way it works, they have a control panel so that you can manage your mysql account, i figured that was for this script.

mysql is not the same as MSSQL, one is open source the other is Microsoft. One generally uses PHP and the other ASP/.NET etc.

This forum is not designed to run with mysql, you can use either the accesss version (office xp) or the SQL version if you have access to a SQL server database. (which you dont..)

after i download the access version, and upload it using msfrontpage what do i do then, is there a file that i create a hyperlink to and place on my index.htm, or homepage that will take me to the forum.

Well...

All you need to install your forum is well written in the documentation, we know that because hundreds of people have done it already, and since you are not the dumbest person around I'm pretty sure you can do it also.

If... folowing the documentation you get some error, and explain what is the error all about, then we can help you more.

If you read the documentation and still dont get it... read it again.

Well...

Since I want to be a good samaritan, I went to your host (avahost) and take a look at it.

The problem is very simple actually, smarty.

Your host dont support ASP pages, this means:

1- Neither this forum or any other asp script will run on it.

2- You may be the dumbest person around.

ok, when ever i do this "Once all the files are uploaded point your web browser to the location on your web space where you uploaded the forum to" it takes me to a page that is "Index of /forum" and shows a bunch of the asp files, does that mean that i cant run the program, when i put the url of the forums location in the browser should it show me somenthing different other than the index

If your server does not support ASP then there are a number of PHP forums you can use. One of them is at http://www.phpbb.com - www.phpbb.com try them out..  They use MySQL as well. CHECK WITH YOUR ISP FIRST THAT YOU CAN USE PHP FORUMS
