Hi

This one is driving me mad and my ISP can not find the problem. I have a Moreover newsfeed that works some of the time, but when you click refresh, you get this message:

error '80004005'
Unspecified error

You can see this yourself here:

http://www.cancernursing.org/informationarea/news/index.asp?Area=InformationArea&Section=News - http://www.cancernursing.org/informationarea/news/index.asp? Area=InformationArea&Section=News

If you don't get the error first time, click refresh a couple of times on your browser. Similarly, click refresh a few times again, and the news works.

Now, the interesting thing is that we also have another site hosted on the same server that works every time! We use this as a testing part before we transfer the files to the CancerNursing.org site. (Indeed, I have just copied the files across). So it would definitely appear to not be the code.

I'm not a guru, but are there some server or database settings that are different for each of the sites that may cause the problem?

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

I have searched the 'net and although I see one or two mentions. No-one seems to know how to fix it.

Many thanks in advance

Del

Note that everything is working now, and I reckon the ISP has rebooted the server. This has cleared things before, but the problem eventually comes back.

Does anyone have any ideas what could cause the problem - eg. the settings for this site on the server, that could be different from another site on the same server.

Cheers

Del

sounds strange.. when stuff like that happens on my server it's usually a server resource issue meaning that someone on the server wrote some sloppy script and it sucks up the memory until eventually no server side scripts will work however html pages are fine..
usually people not closing there script.

i don't know if thats the problem here but it could be.

if it's fine after reboot then comes back slowly that could be it.. hard to say, someone else may know more

Thanks for that!

I'll mention it to the ISP.
