hello :)
I have a member who is having a problem losing posts on our forum.
here's the error she gets:

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server error '80004005'

Cannot open database requested in login 'wwforum'. Login fails.

/forum/common.asp, line 232

I asked the host, and the reply was:

This is a problem within the database or with her username setup. Please verify her information within the database because this is a database issue on your side not the server.

the weird thing is, this member doesn't usually have a problem.  and has posted MANY times today, but just looses 'some'..

I suggested to change her password to see if that helps, but beyond that, I haven't a clue!

Looks like your database login for MSSQL server is messing up somehow. Maybe a bad file. Try reuploading the SQL database connection file.

It's not a problem with this persons username in the forum.

What the host means is that the SQL database username used to login into the database itself is failing.

As you are not changing the database login username in the SQL connection file it means that this is a problem with the SQL server itself and the connection to the SQL server is failing as for some reason it is temporially rejecting the SQL server username for your database. There is nothing that you can do from your side and this could happen to any of your users and not just when posting.

Humm.. confussed again then?!

The host told me:

This is a problem within the database or with her username setup. Please verify her information within the database because this is a database issue on your side not the server.

I took that to mean that the user with the problem,  that SHE is being rejected.  Is that not right?

so it's the DB's username that is the problem.. is there anything that I can do to FIX this problem?  I have one user who it's happening to a LOT.. and another user who said it has happened to her a few times too.

I personally haven't had any problems (except those by my own error, ie. pushing the wrong button and inadvertently going BACK, thus losing my post)  but don't want the members getting frustrated either.

THANKS MUCH!!

I'm using the same SQL server on this site as yourself and it does happen to me every once in a while when the SQL server is having a funny 5 minutes, but I just live with it and come back to the site 10 minutes later.
