In college today we were doing database normilisation, there are four types as I understand, the first three are simple enough, but whats the fourth? Im curious and can't find anything on google. Closest I got to an answer was:

A relation is in 4NF if it has no multi-valued dependencies.Replies:

There's actually five normal forms, if I remember correctly. However, only the first 3 are used much; 4NF and 5NF are very specialized. Doing a google search on http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=%22fifth+normal+form%22 - "fifth normal form" yielded me tons of information... ------------- - eric |

I've read about a 6th normal form, but that it is only theoretical. The third normal form is really the only thing that we need to use. From there you can customize to suit your needs. As far as it goes, I think I need to brush up on that as well. I forget everything past third.
