Hi

I would like to change a username in a forum without loosing any of the messages / history attached to the user (Web Wiz 7.01).

In tblAuthor there are 2 columns of interest: Username and User_code.

Username contains the user's name but user_code also contains the user's name with a code appended to it.

Does anyone know which needs changed?

Thanks in advance

go to http://www.invisionportal.com - www.invisionportal.com and look for Web Wiz Mods in the link list

Mad Dog made a mod to change your members usernames

just download it and read the instructions to install it

then use it

(if it doesnt work or you have problems post it on MadDogs site Invision Portal)

well.. I hate to admit it.. but I am less then experienced with ASP or HTML or anything other then emails and posting.. I have only "lucked out" on the things I have been able to make work..

not to mention I now have a MsSql DB that I don't even know how to access..

I downloaded the mod.. and am gonna attempt it.. we'll see in a bit if it works

MadDog.. it wasn't YOU that I was concerned about..

I am telling you.. every time I manage to do something like this.. I about have a heart-attack!

I thought for sure my database would crash or I would erase everything.. but it didn't!!

It was ME I was worried about..

before I started my forum.. the only thing I used my computer for was email, surfing and posting on a UBB.  I had 'some' experience with building a website, but it is on a server that has a program easy enough for a child to use.. (Homestead)

so this is all very new to me.  I have never even used HTML before, or HEARD of ASP.  and believe me.. I would rather DIE then to read a manual on something!  so I just "try" things..

this MOD is exactly what we have needed for a LONG time!  I can't thank you enough for it!  It was the easiest thing I have ever done, and it worked perfectly.   My member that we just changed.. has just logged back in with her new name!!

now.. when the new WWF comes out.. THEN you guys better beware.. cause that is REALLY going to mess me up..
