I uploaded a file named "04R1_blu_5c_1734[1].jpg"

it changed the name to "F36_04R1_blu_5c_17341.jpg"

but it was saved on the server as "F36_04R1_blu_5c_1734[1].jpg"

i tried it with picture.gif, and it retained its name through out the process and viewed fine. but the file name above did not.

Yea it's a bug that's been around for a long time and hasn't been fixed, the same thing happens when you upload a file with an apostrophe on the filename....

<edit> I don't know if it has been fixed on the latest version tho.

Certain caracters are stripped by filters for security reasons.

Can't you also strip those characters from the filename so this don't happen? It don't matter to me as I got a completely different upload feature on my forum but still a lot of people been complaining about that for a long time and it ain't like it's something impossible or even hard to fix.
