I already have a database with users. They already have an username and password. How can I bind this databse to work with web wiz forum?

Would they have to re-register? Should i make a script so that when they register on my site it adds them to the webwiz database or should i customize the webwiz forum to read users from my database?

any suggestions?

thanks

The forum users 160bit encryption for passwords in a ralational database so it can not be used inconjuction with other databases containing the users.

It would probally be simpler to write an asp application that will also register the members in the forum at the same time.

or you could disable the encrpytion, disable password modification in the forum, change the name of the Author table, delete redundant field from the Authors table and create a join with the same name as the original author table and join the necessary fields from the altered Author table and your members table. This will require you to edit a couple of pages and have moderate ASP and SQL knowledge but it is possible as I use it for LongBox.com.

In version 7.5 there is a boolen in the common.asp files thag if set to false turns off the 160bit encryption of passwords.
