i want to change from an access-version to an sql-version of the wwforums, but i dont want to make all the design changes again. can i keep the old asp-files and only change the db-connection in the common.asp file? or is there another big difference between these two versions?

would be very helpful, i could save alot of time

Depending on what changes you have made, then there shouldn't be a problem.

only changes on the design (html).

a few mods (active users displayed on main page, recently joined members, latest posts,....) but they wont be difficult to change. the forum itself is the problem.

does only the db-connection change? the sql-queries and db-field requests work the same way, or not?

if you want you can have a look at my work: http://www.futasia.ch - www.futasia.ch

its a german site, actually i live in switzerland (we speak german) but originally i'm from vietnam. strange huh?

though its a new community-portal for asians, who live in switzerland and germany.

btw. i need the wwforum v.7.0.1 (sql-version) to upgrade my site. but cant download it anymore. can you help me? if someone still has this version please mail it to me ( mailto:info@futasia.ch - info@futasia.ch ) or give me a link, where i can download it.

You could always upgrade to WWF v. 7.5 there is not that much difference!

i only want to know, which asp files have to be changed, if i upgrade my database from access to sql-server. do i have to change lots of them or only a few? and which ones? i hope only the common.asp...

the reason is, as i said before, the mods and design changes i've made. most of them are not available yet for version 7.5

isnt there really nobody among the 6000 registered members, who has version 7.0.1 sql-server? please if there is someone send it to me ( mailto:info@futasia.ch - info@futasia.ch ) or give me a link where i can download it.

@ADMIN: i know you are a very busy man, and you do a damn good job with this forum, but please take a second and send it to me.

I'm not sure about if mods will still run.

But in an unmoded forum all you need to do is enter your SQL server details into the SQL_server_connectioon.asp file in the admin area and change the database type in the common.asp files.

You will have to create the SQL server database with all the stored procedures.
