"Gradient Tag" In my common.asp file? Am I asking for trouble with other browsers?

I am just migrating the the forum and setting up a portal and all the related stuff. I am gun shy of the skins available, just want the common stuff.

I have my basic forum started and I use the default skin. I placed the gradient tag in the body tag in the common.asp and it looks nice to me on MSIE 6.0 but I just wonder what happens on other browsers. Does the default skin take over? That would be great.

My basic forum: http://www.houseofproctor.com/forum/default.asp - http://www.houseofproctor.com/forum/default.asp
No bells and whistles, yet. Not looking for anything other than experience with the gradient feature drawbacks.

TIA

Works fine on my IE6 too. Are you running 7.5??

Yes. 7.5  I am also in the very early stages of this forum, so many changes still pending. I am just experimenting with the gradient and many other things. So the link example will change many times.

It doesn't show on Mozilla for me either.

It's using an Axtive X filter that is only available to IE users

To do a gradent like that to run in all browsers I tend to use a graphic that is around 2 pixels high and 1600 pixels long this way as background images repeat it will look like a gradent in all browsers.

Fantastic Tip! Thank You.

I have never created a graphic before. I went into Adobe Photoshop created new with your dimensions - Saved and put as background on the common.asp

Got the vertical effect just like that! Now I have new toy!

Just a small Thx for that as well as everything else around here!
