Is there a script out there that will or can be modified to search network drives and report the search results back to a the ASP page?

We have our intranet installed onto one Linux (Unix) server, however none of our office documents are on this same server, they are all saved on a much larger and backed up (hence why we simply can't move the files) MAC (Unix) server.

So what I want to do is set up an ASP search script into our intranet site that is programmed to search the MAC server.

Any good ideas?

Thanks for your help!!!

This is going to be little hard my firiend... Normal ASP cannot do this job... There are indexing components that you can use to do this, but they will cost good money... You might want to search for them in the net...

If both servers are running unix, why do you want to use asp?

Thanks vshriniwasan and dpyers.

Dypers, let me explain, we are only a small company (50 people) and this intranet is going to be written and maintained in house, I know a little about asp and I know HTML. Therefore I was hoping this was do-able in ASP. However if you are aware of a way of doing it that I would understand then I would very much appreciate you letting me know.  It would be extremely helpful as this is, at the moment, a major stumbling block that I am trying to get my head around.

It probably doesn't have to be a completly free solution either, however something that is reasonable if you see what I mean so that I can sell the idea to the people that matter!

Thanks very much for you help!  In the mean time I will carry on my search of google, if I find something I will of course post it for the benifit for the group.

Balearicjobs,

Check the above links. They might be helpfull. Secondly, I have also been dealing with IIS document indexing. But the problem is it is in a Windows Server.
