I have tried to Install 7.5 on my home computer network, first page came up and I entered the startup user/password then got an error, I can enter the first page of the admin section but again when I try to alter the settings I get errors, I have converted the database to access 2002 as my version is 2002. I think it is something to do with the database.

anybody got any idea's

Turn off friendly HTTP error messages in IE so you can get what the error is.

If this is only happening when you try a change something in the forum my guess is that you don't have sufficient permisisons to write to the database. Check the forum documentation.
