What do you folks think is the best software firewall in the world? Not just secure but also reasonable price. Bottom line, overall is the best.

Sygate pro is great, but at the minute im using norton internet security 2003. I might change back to sygate though because norton seems to slow down your pc.

The best firewall is place your PC in a lead box and throw it in the sea. No one will get in then

The best personal firewall is sygate IMO, Norton drains your resources, ZA too and lacks a lot of functionality, McAffee just sucks...

It will take me driving 200 Km to reach the sea from my place in Cairo, can i just through it in the Nile, it is only meters away, or the Nile is not secure enough?

and if I did, how can i still be able to connect to?
is WWG server under the Ocean too? I though you are hosting with GearHost?
and what about hungry fish and sharks!!! will the lead box be able to protect it

No way, I vote for Norton, even if it will make my PC slower.
at least it will still be between my hands

I used to use ZoneAlarm year ago, but it really sucks now. I've tried it out several times [on good machines] and each time the results were disastrous. I've sworn never to waste my time again with it.

At the moment, the only firewall I use is http://www.syworks.com/ - CyberWall  and it does a great job. I can basically ignore it and the CPU usage is very small.

Unfortunately, it is only available in Korean. I'm the only person other than the company who has an English edition... Not very helpful I guess...

IBM uses it here in Korea if that means anything.

As for other firewalls, I've never really found anything that impressed me much. I did like one CA firewall a few years ago. Can't remember what it's called now though...

I just use the one built into win XP.

Does the job as well as any other firewall.

All they do is block ports, but block to many and you will strangle your Internet connection and bandwidth.

I uninstalled Zonealarm and now my computer isn't crashing. I installed Sygate instead.

I found this thread very enlightening.  I've used ZA and several other firewall that I've had the good sense to forget about and am now using sygate.  I'm very pleased with it performance.  ZA was causing all kinds of problems and Bull-guard sucked big time!!

At least ZA does something, i tested out armour2net it look real good (the gui) but it doesnt do anything.

Use sygate its the best.

Hahaha. Something from MS unsafe? The horror!

Actually, the OS is fine. It's just all the nasty software running inside it
