Hello,

I am completely new to ASP and need some help. I have created the a SQL database and run msSQL_server_setup.asp. When I try to access the forum/default.asp I get the following error:

Error Type:
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server (0x80040E14)
Could not find stored procedure 'wwfSpSelectConfiguration'.
/forum/common.asp, line 264
Page:
GET /forum/login_user.asp

I checked the database and sure enough there are no stored proceedure, or any tables other than the defaults. When I ran the msSQL_server_setup.asp I didn't get any errors, though I didn't get any message that the setup was successful either.

Thanks,

tj

Re-run the setup, you should get a message that the database has been setup successfully. It should also give you an error message if something failed.

Hello,

I had tried re-running the msSQL_server_setup.asp several times to no avail. I then rebooted the server, and also added the user I was running setup as, to the db_owner roll. Now it is working. Would perfer to not give user this role on a production box, what permissions exactly are required?

Thanks,

tj

If you read the msSQL_server_setup.asp page where you enter the password it says that dbo rights it's only required to run the setup..., I think it don't say it exactly like that but it says that the dbo password is not necesarily the passwords that the forums use. If it where the same then you wouldn't need to enter the user and password...

You need permissions to run stored procedures and to insert, update and delete all tables..., db writer/db reader won't doit...
