Try this, I've used it before and it seems to work:
<frameset framespacing="0" border="false" frameborder="0">

Frames are actually a VERY good way to save on bandwidth if you have graphical buttons. They do have more than just a couple esoteric uses.

I think people too quickly jump to conclusions about frames.  Sure, in the wrong hands they can look aweful quite easily, but a little work and they are fine.

Yahoo uses frames anyway I think, and as  Bruce once said, "So why cant we?"

As Bluefrog has pointed out frames save on your loading time as one part of the page may only needed to be loaded once.

So frames ok as long as frame abuse is not done.

I use iframes alot, but frames are a bit outdated. Sure you can use them, but using a table, or multiple tables, is 'the new way' of doing things.

Besides, what is the thing you can't do with a non-framed page?

I think there is a purpose for frames it just depends on your application and you cannot do everything with iframe and or tables. If you have a navigation on server1 using some object for instance showing content on a i.e. reporting server be it server2 you cannot use iframe as most security settings prohibit cross iframes, nevertheless I agree that for most purpose sites it can be done without.

Well if you are serving pages from two different servers then you won't be able to use cookies.

Frames don't really save on bandwidth. After first being requested most graphics are served from cache. Frames can actually require more bandwidth because where you were calling one page you are now requesting at least 3 pages (one for the frameset, one for the navigation, and one for the display page).

But if you got a box where you type a message, refreshing it would kill what youve typed half way through!  No, frames must be used, and iframes dont need to be used

Well, you can make the page submit the form every couple seconds, and then reload that content.
