Hello..

I changed my forum (well. .HAD it changed) over to MSSql.. and what I need to know is, how do I access my database now?

I have NO experience with databases.. only viewed mine once before it was changed over.. but I have a few things I want to check out.. and need to get in there?  is there a program I need??

also.. is there a way to log into each members account as Admin.. ?  I have had some remarks about one member sending threats to another via PM and that's what I want to see if it's happening or not.. I don't want to take one persons word for it.

and if the PMs have been cleared from this members outbox.. then would the database still show them??

sorry for the 100 questions here.. just seeing what my easiest options would be..  I also thought I could just change this members password, and log onto the account myself.. but then they wouldnt' be able to get in themselves..   that wouldn't be good.. thanks so much!!  hope someone can help!

You need Enterprise Manager for that, you can download the ms sql trial from microsoft and just install the client tools. You can also use the query analizer to pull out the PMs from that person or simply view them thru EM but once they're deleted they're gone from the database...

<edit> On the pinned topic about upgrading wwf somebody posted a link to an mssql client that it's free, I'm not sure if you can only download the code and have to compile it of if it is a built version but check it out...

how in the HECK did you get that little 'elephant looking thing' to do THAT?   man alive.. does it just do it.. or do you have to make a new sign each time.. or heck.. maybe I am the only one that you have done it for.. which would lead me to ask.. WHY ME?!

sorry.. didn't mean to go off like that..

now.. back to this Enterprise Manager.. now.. I looked at microsofts website.. only got confused.. (isn't hard for me)

BUT.. I found http://www.ipmetrics.com/ipms/download_request_em.htm - THIS SITE ..   but it says.. NIC Express Enterprise Manager (Light Edition)  I am not sure that's the same thing..

isn't it just a program?

ok.. I am going to look at the pinned topic you were talking about.. i'll try that.. thanks!!

OH.. sorry.. one more question.. you said.. You can also use the query analizer to pull out the PMs from that person or simply view them thru EM  now will that be pretty easy to do?  I won't have to download the whole db?

*GASP*  now that thing changed!!  it was an elephant looking thing.. now it's a mouse.. am I going crazy or what???

ok..I found some database program.. but with dialup, it was still downloading after I went to bed.. so I finally just changed the members password, and logged on as them.. I dont' think they will be back anyway, and really, they made such a problem, I don't think they will want to come back..

i'll have to try out this database thing though.. now I am interested in what it can do?!
