Is it possible to close a topic so no one can reply to it but at the same time be able to view what the topic contains?

Thanks

Yes, if you are an admin or moderator you can. In version 6.x just click on the little lock next to the topic and in version 7.x click on the admin link and check 'Closed Topic' you are still able to view all contents but cannot reply.

Why can't standard users be able to view closed topic? They have the right to know what the content is and why it's closed.

you could make an option whether to allow them or not, could you?
