Ask them to pay is the best option.

they r a non paying customer.. thats means that we have asked them enough and hand enough of waiting for the money to arrive form their side which never arrived in real..

Remove their website and simply route their domain to yours until you get paid.

To keep it from happening again
- Require partial payments on large projects and complete payment up front on small projects
- Never release a web site public until you've been paid.

I agree with Jamal. Do not give them the source until you got your dough

Unless they are a trusted long term client, and you have built up a good relationship.  Thats very important.

I agree with BOB1, ljamal, michael, and Gullanian, you must give them chance, then redirect to yours, selling there domain will bring you nothings... + may bring more trouble too.

But really, the second choice is the BEST PUNISHMENT

Screw fairness. They're not paying me to be nice!

Just kidding...I give my clients every chance to pay up before I do anything drastic...and as a matter of fact I've never had one that didn't pay up eventually (knock on wood!).

If the domain name is not registered in your name, then you couldn't sell it even if you wanted too.  You don't have the legal right.

he still can sell it if he is the admin (the administration of the site can change the DNS and details).

the domain is in my name as long as they dont pay.. since they r a non paying customer.. i wouldnt be caught if i do something damaging with their site or domain for reason that they still owe me money for that and the domain/site is not really theirs as long as they have no paid..

Go in a legal way.

What is written in the contract between you and them?

legal way

the domain will expire before reaching a solution

screw the contract.. it is void since they didnt pay on time so they broke the contract which in turn makes the contract viod.. there is logically no contract between them and me anymore

well messing aroubnd with the domain will atleast spoil the business reputation especually if its a domain with too much resemblense to business name eg: http://www.business-name.com - www.business-name.com

Perhaps the "non-payer" note should go something like this:

We're poor and can't afford to pay our web developer for our site. Please buy our stuff. It is good. It will make you happy. Please. Really... We're so pathetic that we're begging...

PLEASE!

For the love of GOD! HELP~!

So I know what to do...go to the MUTTAWA and tell them that the wife of the non-payer isn't wearing NIQAB and ABAYA...they will "fix" him in their methods...

If you change there site to say that they havn't paid you, you may be liable if they decide to sue you for giving their buisness a bad name.

I find that if someone isn't paying their bill is to simply delete their site, it's suprising how quickly they are on the phone to you asking why there site is down and even more suprising how quickly they seem to have a cheque in the post to you!

I find this method always works for me.

redirect their page to a 404 error until they pay, and then make them pay for reactivation
