Hi all,

We currently run a very popular forum using YaBB... 3200 members, 18,600 threads, 207,600 posts... and are now looking to upgrade to something that will handle the traffic a bit better that YaBB does!

Are there any applications for this forum that would allow us to migrate all our users and posts from YaBB's txt files to a SQL database?

In addition to this, one of the features that I've added to our YaBB system is the ability for the "new" post icon (the one that tells a user that additional posts have been made to the thread since they were there last) to be a link to the first new post. Does this feature exist for this system, or is there a modification available to provide this??

Many thanks!

KevinST

Importing your posts and users would be a manual process, I am not aware that there are any made conversion tools. Thus as yours seem to be txt files I do think it is very hard to import them using something like DTS if you are familiar with it.

This forum does "know" by default when you last visited and sets the new post icons accordingly, no mod needed.

The forum marks new posts and you can be taken to the last post of the thread. But if you want to be taken to the last NEW post, you need a MOD for this. I know there is one available in the MOD-forum.

Thanks for your responses.

The fact that I'm going to have to write a conversion app from the YaBB flat files to the SQL database is annoying .

Have to think about this... and maybe try and find a pre-written app, or maybe even a different forum app that does have a conversion app available
