Has anyone seen this error message when trying to load the Forum to their free Brinkster account?

The Server.ScriptTimeout in one or more of your files was found to be set above 90 seconds. Here is the proper way to set this Server property:
Server.ScriptTimeout = 60

If so, how did you fix it?

thanks,

Jim

All files that have this error when uploading on Brinkster you will need to edit them and change the line Server.ScriptTimeout = to a value of 60

This will mean that parts of the forum admin will not run correctly at times.

Brinkster are placing more and more restrictions like this and pop up adds that are meaning if you don't pay for a hosting account most software like this will not run.

It maybe worth having a look for a paid hosting account that supports ASP. You can get some very good deals these days form as little as $5 a month which will allow you to use ASP to it's full protential.

Which parts of the forum admin are affected by changing that setting, and what is the worst case scenario?

thanks,

Jim

Things like batch deleting, forum deleting, category deleteing may timeout if you use these features.

Brinkster free accounts now also inject adds onto every page which means that you can not use the WYSIWYG (RTE) Post Editor for writing posts. This will need to be disabled from the admin area.

I took care of the ad injecting. What a bunch of bastards. I know when you purchase the account from them, things often work worse than they did on the free account, if at all. Do you have any links to the cheap ASP hosts. I don't mind paying for it, but $16.00 a month is pretty steep, especially on my salary.

I did manage to install the Forum and I have begun to set it up. I am very impressed so far. I have a question... How does the member registration work when users login initially. I have mine set to not allow anyone but registered users to post, but I don't see how to set up how they get registered.

thanks,

Jim

A registred users is someone who fills in the registration form and becomes a member of the forum.

If someone can login (member) they are a registered user.
