HA it appears that only the last post has button delete. I don't know what the intention behind that is.

If you're using v6 you can just download the database and look for the password on it.......if you're using v7 then you can create a new account with a password, then download the db and change the admin password for the one of the account you've just made (encrypted - using copy & paste), then try to login with the new password...

The reason for this is so that people don't go back and delete a pervious post once someone has replied to it, when people could do this it was found that people often did delete posts once someone had replied it then makes the whole topic rather startnge as people are replying to posts that have been deleted and so it doen't make sense.

are you SURE that will work? since i used that "Convert Database" thing, and i had a couple accounts with the same password and they were all encrypted differently so i dunno if that would work but couldnt you change the level of the new account, making it become a Admin Account, then delete the old one?

If anybody loses their password and they use version7 they should add a new user with a password that you know.  Then open the database and go to TLBAUTHOR table.  Find the new user you added and copy the PASSWORD and then the SALT of the new user and past them where the current password and salt is for Administrator.

If you copy just the encrypted password it will not work.  You must copy that password and the salt.  Hopes this helps someone as my Administrave password became corrupted when I upgraded to 7.

That is the problem with Access, there is pretty much no way to 100% secure it. With SQL you can make the password field a binary which gives it some additional safety. Not having looked at the hash code to much, there should be a way of altering the salt value to a checksum of other values that would only work with the userid the user has. this way the salt would be explicit for a userid thus you would need to get the userid before actually entering those fields.
