Sorry it won't run on Linux.

If you are using Linux then PHP is better, ASP is better on Windows.

The type of server side language you use depends on the server you are running.

3rd Party programs to make ASP run on Linux don't fully support ASP so Web Wiz Forums will not run on a Unix plateform and ASP as a rule only runs well on Windows as ASP is written by Microsoft for the Windows plateform only.

If you want to use Linux then you will have to use a PHP based forum like phpBB or invision.

If you want to use Web Wiz Forums then your only choice is to use a Windows and an IIS web server.

See the following page for the server specs required for Web Wiz Forums:-

http://www.webwiz.net/web_wiz_forums/forum_specifications.asp - http://www.webwiz.net/web_wiz_forums/forum_specificati ons.asp

Ok. I have seen the specifications for running Web Wiz but i cant help i need a linux based forum.
Sorry, this is not the right place to discuss this, but as i said, invision admin is VERY VERY TOUGH, and except phpBB, do you suggest something else.

Thanks you

invision and phpBB is the two big forum systems in php and phpbb is very similar to web wiz.. you could try phpnuke from phpnuke.com.. thats a whole portal system, but im not sure what forum they are running..

I have a win2k pc with Mysql and PPhp installed. I tried the invision board and as i already said, the config is VERY VERY DIFFICULT. It's very hard 2 manage that.
Regarding PhPbb, I know know about its admin but i dont like the interface. I'll try that phpnuke.
Any other forums.
Sorry for disturbing you guys, Again.

Thank you.

Ok. I will try PhpBB Again. I have used this webwiz forum for about 6months and my database size is 35MB+ . If i install PhPBB, what do i do of the database. It cannot be installed with that.

BTW, If  i can manage to install INVISION BOARD, is it good? I have heard it has LOTS AND LOTS OF FEATURES.

Thank you

i havnt tried invision board..

i think you have a problem if you are going to use your webwiz database on a linux server....... you could manually copy all the data from one database to another..

Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
I have got my linux server logon details from my webhost now.
I had seen a post at http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=33443 - http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=33443
which says it has a converter to convert wwf to phpbb but it gives some error.
BTW, u said u can manually copy, how do i do that??

1 More question.

the websvr is running apache. wont that apache-asp patch work here??

to copy manually you just open the databases and copy the text inside.. but thats hell alot of work if you have got a 35+mb database..

if you are using access and the server support access and asp, then maybe you can run wwf.. but i know nothing about linux and apache and that type of sh*t.. have tried Mandrake 8.1 "the easiest linux version ever" didnt understand sh*t of it.. then my ideas about starting with php went away and i started with asp..
