Hi,

Im in the process of updating a 7.01 forum to 7.6. As far as i can see the only database change is the activeusers "browser" field, from length 15-20.

I have a clean version of 7.6 running, pointing to the old database and i get the following error whilst trying to create a post:

Microsoft JET Database Engine error '80040e21'

The changes you requested to the table were not successful because they would create duplicate values in the index, primary key, or relationship. Change the data in the field or fields that contain duplicate data, remove the index, or redefine the index to permit duplicate entries and try again.

/forum/post_message.asp, line 756

I've tried a few times and cant seem to work out what is causing this error. Would anyone else have an idea?

Thanks.

Could be a corrupted database use the compact and repair feature in the admin area of the MS Access version.

The repair compact didnt fix the problem.

I might try running it off a clean version of 7.01 see what happens

. might have to write an sql-transfer script which does an insert/select between databases.. But thats a bit of effort.

I tried running a new install of 7.01. I get the same error.

Could it be that users are accessing the database whilst im downloading it? Would that cause any problems? Because normally there are 10-12 users posting regularly at any time.

Solved the problem. I did an online copy of the database to another name then downloaded that isntead of the live version. Which solved the issue.

Thanks for your help.
