Hi all,

We currently run another popular asp forum on our past pupil site and I would like to change over to webwiz - I have a key question - is it possible to take the members from one access database etc and move it to webwiz ?

Yes you can, thus be aware of the built in encryption. If your old forum does not have the passwords encrypted, then you need to encrypt them, if they are encrypted they are most prob. not compatible with this forum so your memebers may have to request a new password.

If you have a mail component installed on your server they can just request a new password. Doing the upgrade depends a little on what the other forum is. Is it accesss -access?

The latest version of WWF does allow you to disable the encryption. This is not recommended for Access, but it could be done. If your previous forum uses aqn different encryption, you could replace WWF's encryption with that forum's encryption.

There are no transfer script available that will allow you to transfer your data from your previous forum to WWF. To do that you will have to script the process yourself. If you state what your previous forum was, I am sure someone else has done the transfer and could help you through it. If not, then if you run into any problems with the transfer scripting, you can always post questions here.

My biggest suggestion would be to be sure to back-up the database before transfer and be sure that back-up does not get changed. The back-up will be your failsafe should anything go wrong.
