I aint very good at JS, ive made an HTTP chat for two people, and was wondering if anyone can think of anyway to have a message showing when the other person is typing... So itd say something like, "xxx is typing..." Ive seen it done but cant figure it out! |

You would have to use ActiveX or something like that, HTTP by itself cannot recognize keystrokes. Ah poo! Cant Javascript detect a keypress? I tihnk I could do it but I cant find anything anywhere on js keydowns |

Aha solved it :) Javascript with 2 vars: If value has changed, refresh invisible frame Invisible frame updates database telling that that user in that session is typing, and the current date/time Each user has a listening frame, which displays is typing if the person at the other end has their flag up Main refreshing chat frame clears all flags more than 5 seconds old Ok, that could work. |
