Not sure if anyone uses the Google toolbar, but PageRank has disappeared from it~!

Also, Google revised it's results algorithms and now they are way different.

For me, I used to have terms with massive numbers of results in the top 10 or 40 results. Now, I've got less numerically, but I've got more terms with higher ranks. I can't even count how many #1 or #2 spots I have anymore.

Does anyone else do SEO for their sites?

Googles over commercialisation of its service has lessened the relevance of its searches, almost every search now brings up one of those shopping portals in the top 10 results. They are basically link farms and google is now pulling page after page from them, very poor indeed.

Nearly 70% of my surfers (not regular users) used to come from google searches, this has dropped to lower than 50% in the last 4 days and is probably the outcome of the new alithrogram now being used.

That being said, I have noticed an increase in the numbers from both MSN and DMOZ itself, maybe, just maybe, people will start to use the DMOZ site a lot more and help bring google down a peg.

Do I care about google, not a jot!!!

Hmm... Seems odd.

But the new Google thing is quite a shake up.

I had tons of results in the top 10 for many searches (some I had all 10) and now, I don't have as many. But then again, for a lot of terms, I don't have as many results, but I do have higher results.

In fact, my Google hits are up from about 120 a day with PPC (adwords) to 150 with no PPC (.com only - others not included).

Actualy google says that nothing affects the search results if you read their statement.  What tou search just brings up the protals not because of commercilisation but keywords

The PageRank feature shows up on my Google toolbar.  I'm staring at it right now.

This page ranks 0/10 on importance.

I haven't noticed much change.  Our pages show up highly and with the relevant search terms.  Most of our pages are deemed important by Google, which makes sense, since we have a lot of quality text based content.

We have no meta tags and did not do anything to try to rank highly (other than put quality content on our site), yet we do.

It appears that whatever Google is doing to pick sites is working.  When I do searches for terms that relate to our site, relevant sites come up and the relevant page from our site comes up also.

We had to rethink our design a little bit because most people arrive directly at the page they are looking for on our site instead of coming through our front page.  We had to change the navigation to make people realize we have more to offer than what they were searching for.

Since Google's results are so good, people are directed directly to the answer they are seeking on our website.  They don't have to search our website at all because Google find it on our website for them.

Ofcourse, Google is important as a traffic source. Over 70% of the web search results are powered by Google. However, it appears that other SEs such as MSN, AllTheWeb, and Teoma are improving their search market share, especially after recent Google update (Florida Update).
