I have tried registering on my forum and receive this error:

  • Error Type:
    (0x8004020F)
The event class for this subscription is in an invalid partition
    /Forum/functions/functions_send_mail.asp, line 89

I have received other errors and have been able to correct those but this one is persistant.  Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Check whether you have set activation email or not. If yes, mayb the component is not working or not installed. If no, then disable that from Admin Menu.

if all that does not work, try reuploading the file

    BTW, the line

    /Forum/functions/functions_send_mail.asp, line 89

Clearly states that ur mail component is not working. disable that

Did you specify the SMTP server?  That is required for CDOSYS.

Tried several SMTP Server names as I wasn't sure what it was asking. Both names I tried checked out with the DNS name checker in the OS.  One is through No-ip and the other is the actual name of my puter which is one of the domains listed.  Neither worked with aspmail or cdosys.  I am sure it's a setting somewhere but just not sure where.

You must specify a valid SMTP server for CDOSYS.

    Examples:

    • mail.mydomain.com
    • mail.mywebhost.com
    • smtp.mydomain.com
    • smtp.mywebhost.com
    • mydomain.com

If you are using shared hosting, then try using mydomain.com.  That is how one of my web hosts set it up in the past.

Also, check with your web host and ask them how to send mail via a web page.  They should tell you what the SMTP server address is or if they did something unique.  Also, check your web host's FAQ section.  They may tell you what it is there.

And make sure they have mail installed.  They may not have even installed it to prevent people from spamming.  I have actually run across some webhosts who disabled e-mail on their web server!

If you don't know your SMTP server address, then that might be the problem.
