Here are just a couple of things i think might be good for 7.7. I'll probably add these in myself if they arent done but they might help others too.

  • IP on active users screen for admin
  • Anonymous (username) on active users screen for admin
  • PM's to always be sent/received from admin group (not just user 1)
  • Sorting in the thread lists (by posts, date, views, etc)
  • An icon/indicator to show users which threads they have participated in.
  • Application variable to use a string-prefix (similar too cookies i believe) so that when people use the forum on shared hosts, the users lists wont clash
  • An option to use either application variables or database for active users
  • Ability for admins or moderators to use [flash] in posts, but not normal users (maybe 3rd option in admin screen).
  • Speed up the rte as it lags badly on ~500mhz computers.
  • Flash in sig's. (again following admin only rules stated above)

Keep up the good work though.

For user administration, I forced all of my members to provide their real name. I think there should be an option for users to show their names or not. When they turn it on, normal users, not included admins and mods, cannot see their names.

n acctive user will work on all hosting not only pay hostingz and if there iz some guest online then it has to say welcome guest n when there iz some user online then it has to say welcome userzname okayz

hey 1 idea more plzzz add a chat room where all member can chat with each other n if there iz some guest he/she can also chat there plzzzzzzz plzzzzzzzz plzzzzzz iz it posibel?????????? gr8 idea iznt it????

Some of these options are already in version 7.6
To fix the active users problem just change the varables.
To enable flash just turn it on and edit all the group
permissions and have only your admin groups
and mod group be able to use it.

I have also come up with some ideas for the next version of Web Wiz Forums, Some of these may seem Impossible,

 

Some of the things I would like to see included are:

 

  • The Addition of the Pure ASP Upload component Found in the Mods Forum http://forums.webwiz.net/forum_posts.asp?TID=3429&PN=1 - http://forums.webwiz.net/forum_posts.asp?TID=3429&a mp;a mp;PN=1 .
  • The option to use the Unique Security Code in Registration.
  • The option to Force users to use a real name when registering.
  • Better time formats and codes. For example having a main Time Zone were the admin can choose how many hours in front or behind they are of Greenwich Mean Time. This will allow users to put there correct time zone in.
  •  Users cannot choose to be added to the Active Users list they are automatically added.
  • Allowing Admin to change the Username of Users.
  • Showing the IP of Active Users including Guests for Security Purposes.
  • Automatically deleting un-activated users after a certain amount of time E.g. 24 Hours.
  • Having a maximum number of possible posts for one user for the day, also having a minimum number of words in the post to protect against spamming.
  • Allowing the Banning of users from certain forums were you don’t want access to be given. (I think this may be possible but I am unsure)
  • Having a phpBB based title were users can name there forum.
  • Email and PM Warnings for Users that use Excessive Swearing or Spam and alert the Admin through a PM or an Email.
  • Better statistics such as how many times a user has logged in and at what times. Also for Admin the busiest times and days for the Forum.
  • Email Messenger is shown on the main page, And the Rich Text Editor is available for Emails.
  • Stricter Voting Rules where users can only vote once as the Vote is recorded in the Database.
  • The integration of News Items, Sp

I also suggest to introduce the redirect to the new post you've just posted in using the topic_ID anchor I've seen in the forum_post.asp code
