Hi, i'm not sure if this should go to the mod forum or not, but here goes...

I have a lot of information on our discussion board (spread over several forums) and i'd like to delete it... no problem so far, problem is, by doing so, i'm gonna lower the post count of many ppl, which for some (many) is a problem

Can there be a way of doing so, without affecting the post count ?

Thx in advance for any help

The quickest way is to edit delete_post.asp and at line 197 change

  'decrement the number of posts by 1
  lngNumOfPosts = lngNumOfPosts - 1

to be

  'decrement the number of posts by 1
  lngNumOfPosts = lngNumOfPosts

I thought Borg built in some way to delete posts without reducing people's post count.  I remember it being talked about.

Yup this works, but the problem is it only works for deleting a post at a time... my forum has hundreds of posts...

Our users have posted 3002 Posts in 188 Topics

It's impossible, one at a time, perhaps the place to edit this when a thread is deleted, or a forum or something ?

Yup .... you can do this for deleting a topic as well

delete_topic.asp change line 170 to be lngNumOfPosts = lngNumOfPosts

From the looks of things delete_group and delete_forum dont change the PostCount

That's what I thought.  If you use the mass delete posts in the admin area, it doesn't reduce the post count.  That is what Borg changed.  In previous versions it did change the post count.  Now it doesn't.

Well, the mass deletion doesn't change post count by default. And implementing thekiwi tips, post deletion and thread deletion also don't change post count, i take it as this is enough

Problem solved, thx folks, let this thread be as is, for those who want this feature.
