This is a new thread, from the one titled "i get Error with CDOSYS !!"

I've just spoken to my ISP (oneandone) and they advised that the e-mail component they use is AspEmail.  They are running Windows 2003 Server, so I'm not sure if I use AspEmail or CDOSYS???

In my e-mail setup I currently have the following;

Email Component to Use: AspEmail
Outgoing SMTP Mail Server: auth.smtp.oneandone.co.uk
Your email address: mailto:andy@woodyweb.me.uk - andy@woodyweb.me.uk *

EMail Notify: On
Send Post with E-mail notification: Off
Email Activation of Membership: On
Built in Email Client: Off

* Does this e-mail need to be with the same ISP that the SMTP entry is on?? (hope that makes sense!)

You would have to ask one and one that as they are the ones who control the setup of their smtp servers, but from what I can gather from one and one is that there support sucks.

PS. They do have CDOSYS, use 'localhost' as your out going smtp server.

boRg,

Changed the settings, but still don't want to play ball.....

Settings are now showing as;

E-Mail component: CDOSYS
Outgoing SMTP: localhost
e-mail address: mailto:andy@woodyweb.me.uk - andy@woodyweb.me.uk

Hello all.

Just got the error page not to display.  oneandone uses AspMail and not AspEmail or CDOSYS.

Just waiting for the e-mail to be sent to me !!!

Fingers crossed

Is CDOSYS (CDONTS) a standard component with Win2K server, whereas ASPEmail is an add-on?

That's what I thought, but perhaps oneandone have disabled that component (if you can do that!) in favour of AspMail.!??!?!

Hello. I've hosted my forum on domaindlx.
How can I configure e-mail? Is it possible?
Is there any free server where e-mail services are supported?
Thanks

This site has a free component test script to tell you what components are installed on your web hosting machine.
