i need to buy some cheap economy class digital camera coz im in urgent need of one before 26 Dec 2003 ...and my finger landed on HP

but im confused that which would be a better deal to buy

HP photo smart 635 or photo smart 735
searching on the net reveals that they more r less r the same care with execption that 735 has extra zoom and resolution but more or less the comparies is draw between both and am confused..

i have a limited budget and cannot exceed $200 USD ..

(unless u r recommending me some expensive camera and send me extra $$ for it  )

For you to stay in the budget is hard to suggest one as HP cameras suck in my opinion, I never liked them. Go with some cheap Canon or Kodak instead.

I have a Nikon Coolpix 2100 and have taken over 3000 pictures with it in the last 8-9 months.

Although it looks a bit battered now from being dragged around lots of festival's, carnival's, outings, parties, etc. and being well abused it still takes excellent shots and I've not had any problems with it.

I think it cost me around £140 to buy.

I have to agree on that one but there are some cheep cameras out there that are not bad. You need to consider your budget and form there look at what you need it for. Good top end photos cost more. Look at getting a 3 to 5.5 Megapixel camera something like the trust 920 POWERC@M ZOOM

* Compact digital camera with 3.1 Megapixel sensor and 5.5 Megapixel camera resolution
* 4 cm colour TFT LCD display for live viewfinder, zoom preview, review pictures and menu functions
* 4x digital zoom and built-in automatic flash light
* 16 MB memory built-in and expandable by optional SD / MMC memory card
* Video recording option including sound
*

Video output to review pictures and video clips on TV

This is a low end camera that won’t bust the budget. This is only a suggestion.

You can always look at second hand as you may get a better deal for your cash.

Hope this helps

Yeah try ebay, sure to get some good yins in there!

(I have a fujifilm finepix a202, doubles up as a web cam and takes good pictures and even small movies. Would cost around £100 or less now, but I would recommend it!)

I just bought an Olympus Camedia C450 about a month ago. The price was equivalent to USD250 -- after discount, of course.  It's a 4.0 megapixel digital camera and as far as photo quality goes, it's a good one to have.

I've a very terrible expierence with HP Digital camera 612 C (~$350), it is very very very bad.

Flash is useless, Resolution is to bad, picture is pixlated... no video capture. it is nothing if compared to Samsung or Fuji.

i got a hp photosmart 735, i can't complain about it, the big advantage of hp is that they are really easy to use, not a milion button that do nothing, they bateries last a long time, runs fine on a linux box , here is a pic i took a while ago

alas i got one to speak in favour of HP..

well technically speaking digital camera can never shoot picstures to a quality of a manual camera but shooting quality pics with digital cam is more of a game of adjusting MV ratios and proper lighting.. and as long as u dont know the basics of handling a igital cam.. u will never be able to shoot pictures properly regardless how expensive digital cam u use..

i have shot some really good quality pics from a cheap pocket camera of about a cost of $30 USD..thinking that the more expensive digital camera u buy, the better results it would yield is just wrong...

hmm ok im not ready to take risk with HP anymor probably.. i found a nice deal with Sony.. my base requirements r atleast 3mega pixels and 3x optical zoom...

i figured out i can get a decent sony cam with a sony quick baterry charger + 4 NiMH batteries for just under or around 1000 Saudi Riyals

not at all bad..only reason think im uncomfortable with sony is that it usies Sony memory Stick rather than more popular SD or MMC card but i dont think i would be really in such need to swap storage cards among other devices or friends of mine so i guess opting out for sony with a good capacity memory stick would serve me year or two well..

btw.. i just arrived back from a mall and saw HP 735 in action..really my mind was well made to purchase it when i let my house but after seeing it live in hand.. i was well made to refrain from it ..it is not a bad cam really but need too much precise conditions to shoot pic.. where as sony's r usualy rigid and will submit to greater degree of abuse than HP !!

who can say anything about sony

Ok now I will be in trouble for my opinions

The only problem I have PERSONALLY with sony, and I say Personally which is that I dont like, not that makes it a bad camera. Is the fact that they use proprietary memory, which if one day you ever decide to get another make of camera you cant use the sony memory sticks. It would be bettter to get something that is compatible in most cameras and other devices like Compact FLASH, SmartMedia etc..

HTH!!
