I have just set up the SQL server version of Forums on our Internet site. The site consists of 2 load-balanced web servers (IIS 5 over Win 2k) connecting to a single SQL Server 2000 database server.

The database is connected and (almost) everything is running fine. I am able to log in as the administrator and post and do everything else. However, I am not able to register as a new user (when clicking the "register" button after filling in info, it came back with an "access denied" page). I posted earlier ( on  Dec 23, link is http://forums.webwiz.net/forum_posts.asp?TID=8290&PN=6 - http://forums.webwiz.net/forum_posts.asp?TID=8290&a mp;PN=6 ,)and -boRg- said that this was caused by either:

1. The load-balancer was not connecting me to the same server when submitting the info as when I first clicked on the "register" button. But if this were the case, wouldn't it also occasionally move me to the other server even when I'm just logged in as admin (thus logging me out)? This has not happened so far, and I've done a fair bit of work as admin.

2. Another application used session.abandon. However, I do not have other session-based applications on the site. I have also isolated the forum in its own web application.

Please post if you have any ideas, as I'm fast running out of them. Is there any experience with running Webwiz Forums on a load-balanced configuration?

Thanks in advance.

The problem is that to prevent remote form submission by hackers the ASP session ID is checked.

When using load balanced web servers unless you can get the session to be carried over to the other web server when it swiches between the two the session ID will be dropped and a new one created.
