hey, have just set up a webwiz forum, and as yet havent given address to anyone. Since putting th forum live, I have been having certian visitors turning up, showing on the online list as registerd members, always the same names.
The majority of these when you click their name come up with no profile, but every now and then their profile shows up as my admin profile (same avatar etc) yet in the forum admin site I have only the registered members that i know about.

Are these just webwiz people?
Have I reason to be worried about some showing up as admin when I click on them?

As I said its always the same peopel turning up...Scandalf, joshfancy, 8ball.

Any info would be very helpful, if only to put my mind at ease. Thank you one and all.

Sounds like you are using a free web host.

With free web hosts you don't have your own sites resources, this means that many functions will not work on the forum like the active users list, which will need to be disabled from the admin area.

The active users list uses application variables, with a normal paid hosting account each site has it's own application, but with free web hosts you share this with everyone else on the server. What you are seeing is the active users list of everybody else using the same forum software on the server you are on.

Yeah..we got the solution for the active user list, but still waiting for something to help solve the problem of non-working formatting buttons.

If you are using free web hosts then it looks like it is something you will have to live with or move to a paid hosting account as there is no solution to this as javascript is distroyed by the injected adds.

Although a solution someone else did was to contact the free web host and they removed the injected adds from their site as long as they placed the adds into the pages themself, thus it's not injected messing up the page.

thanks boRg, the free host I use doesnt have inserted adds. I use 1asphost.com would it be the same with that do you know?

1asphost.com do inject the add about 100mb of web space in the bottom of each page.

They also inject an add into the message_form_js.asp javascript file which means that all the javascript in that file fails to run thus corsing the problems that you have.

The active users list and RTE will not work on any free web hosts.

On 1asphost.com you will also find that none of the editors javascript buttons will work.

These are problems relating to free web hosts and not the software as there aren't really solutions to this, you'll just have to live with it or pay for web hosting.
