Where can I download a free ASP web server.  I have recently upgraded to 'XP home' with no integrated personal web server. Where can I get one that uses ASP?

Thanks

I think you can use http://www.xitami.com/download.htm - Xitami , but I'm not 100% sure...

If you are wanting to use the software from this site then you need IIS installed.

There is a hack to install IIS on XP home, I think there is an article on how to do this on www.4guysfromrolla.com but if not a search of google should find something on this.

I had to reinstall PWS with 98 because the installation that came with the machine didn't work either.  If you have the 98 disks you can just install the bit you need.

Couldn't get Xitami to work for IIS

Having Read the hack, I figured for £25  I would rather pay to use activeHTML from selisoft on the Abyss local server.

I guess that if I spent and hour sorting out the hack then £25 would be more cost effective!

Thanks for your help anyway and no thanks to MS for making developers lives difficult!!

why do you think that the company "is making developers lives difficult".. you are making your life difficult by not having the right OS for the job.. much like if i drive a small sports car, i am not going to be dragging around sheets of plywood around (i should have bought a truck for that, right?!)

XP Pro is the choice for developers, XP Home is for the everyday Joe home user

i think MS learned their lesson with nimba and code red the dangers of having people that don't know any better having web server software running on their desktops

Xitami is free but you need iASP installed (Instant ASP), a few years ago this was free, but I think it's now a comercial addon, not sure.

Get Win 2000 or XP Pro it's not that much more expenssive and you get lots more functionality and networking options, well worth it.
