Hi,

ever since 01/01/04 the active topics feature stopped working completely!
it only works if I select "Yesterday" as the filter.

any known reasons for this to happen?

This can happen if the LCID number is changed for an application on your site or in the common.asp file for the forum.

To get it to work you need to edit the active_topics.asp file and enter the LCID number for the server into the file, there is a bit commented out that you just need to uncomment and enter the correct LCID number into.

A list of LCID numbers can be found at:-

Hi Bruce,

I had the same problem, with this forum! on two different OS's/PC's

I saw the envelopes in front of the topics showing new messages.

But when I pressed active topics ( http://forums.webwiz.net/active_topics.asp - http://forums.webwiz.net/active_topics.asp ), a blanc screen appeared.
It indeed happened the first days of this year, and I thought you were testing something.

nope, that didn't do the trick

My forum is v7.5 by the way

and nothing shows up on any of the filters I select until I select to show topics since yesterday

I noticed that cookies are used for that - might be a cookie problem maybe?

btw - in this forum it works perfectly for me

Mine has never worked, with the right LCID number.  I have no idea why and gave up.

You need to check with your web hosts as to the locale settings of the server.

hmm..
it shows me the time when I last visited correctly
and unread topics are shown correctly with an open envelope.

I don't get it.

I have the same problem on this site. I change the LCID number to the UK LCID number.

This then messes up the filters on the active topics page.

To get these recordset filters to work correctly I have to change the LCID number back to that of the servers LCID which is US. This then gets the active topics page to run.

You need to do the same if you wish to use the feature.

ok, any way I can get the correct LCID without contacting my host?

we kinda hate each other  (cause I know more than they do)

Edit:
Ok, I did <%=Session.LCID%>

it gave me 2048...
but setting 2048 in common.asp and active_topics.asp didn't work

Then it possibly a server problem then and not all locales on the server are set the same.

Also if another application or script is changing the LCID number then the number returned won't be that of the server anyway.

ok, thanks alot, I'll talk with my host

just one last question - I'll need to explain to them where it is supposed to be changed... is it in the IIS?

I've looked around in my own IIS server and couldn't find any locale settings, do you know where can I find it?

Thanks alot for you assistance.

Locale is set in the control panel, there are mutiple places where it is set and is not an IIS setting but a OS setting.

Regional and Language Options
