Hello people,

im trying to make WWFourm to work but cant do this.
I have Win2000 Advanced Server running with IIS.

I downloaded the v6.34 (MS Access Verison), don't i have to make any changes or add db connections??

Here is what i get trying to run login_user.asp:

Provider error '80004005'

Unspecified error

/common.asp, line 191

What could be wrong???

This is a database error, check that you have sufficient permissions to access the database and write to it.

i took an other look at the permisions, i changed it... it should be right now, but i get  this now:

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005'

[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver]General error Unable to open registry key 'Temporary (volatile) Jet DSN for process 0x728 Thread 0xecc DBC 0x2135a5c Jet'.

/common.asp, line 191

When i tried to run this again it gave me this:

Provider error '80004005'

Unspecified error

/common.asp, line 176

You got the wrong path to your db

I also have the same error. I have uploaded all of the forum software up to my web site which is being hosted by an ISP.

I think that I am running into problems as the Access database seems to be in the forum/admin folder and I do not have the ability to change permissions on the ISP system.

Normally I install my Access databases in the FPDB folder on my web and the permissions are cool. But if I do that here then the forum system will need modifications made to tell it where the database is and I don't know how to do that.

Any help will be appreciated.

do the modifications in the common.asp file it's all commented so it won't be too hard........btw. it's not a good adea to say where you have your db as anyone can get it and hack your forum.... i suggest you read the documentation that comes with the forum..

Well in the documention it says u dont need to change the files...
any way in common.asp i got this line:

strDbPathAndName = "admin/wwForum.mdb"

and the database is at admin folder, so whats wrong??? the path is right....

Can any one try to downlaod the file for access and see whats wrong with it??

hi there, i have the same problem here, on the line 176 in the file common.asp

I don't know at all what should be the problem but i have maybe a clue : I can't open the database of the forum, even if i use Access 2000.  I've got a message telling me that the database was maybe created with a posterior version of Access.

So maybe it's for that reason ?

It seems that you have to change the statement below in both copies of common.asp (one in the admin folder and one in the forum folder)

strDbPathAndName = "admin/wwForum.mdb"

I changed this statement in both copies of common.asp and moved the renamed file to another folder and it worked great!!!

Thanks go out to fernan82 for pointing me in this direction.

hi again...

Ok i checked it, and as for me, this is the reason the forum was not working, with the error on the line 176 :

- I downloaded and used the Access 2002 version and my hosting service can just accept 97 & 2000 databases.

So i downloaded the 2000 version and installed it, and everything is fine and working !

I guess mayble the other guys made the same error as i did !

sorry for bothering u !

By the way, in the languauge.inc file, the french translation, the are some ' symbols missing in the disclaimer text and the forum's not working if you don't add it.

I triesopening the database and it worked... i use Access 2002 (XP). and i still get the same error.

I also tried to download the new version (v.7 beta 3) and it works fine, so the problem is some where in the file!!!

yes but is your hosting service compatible with Access 2002 ?

(maybe it's working locally with pws but not on line)...try uploading on line the 2000 version !
