hi, ive decided to move webhosts so i can get a MS SQL database

but one things stopping me from buyin the other webspace....

if i swop hosts... and upgrade my site (which is on Access) to a MS SQL database

will it still work?

by that i mean the mods...... ive changed my site quite a bit, and basically built a portal based on the forum (thats allowed right? since am not releasing it? )

and since i dont know alot about ASP am not sure if it will still work

ive used the "SELECT * FROM table WHERE field = string"

does this all still work in SQL? or would i have to try and convert my whole site to MS SQL coding for it all to work?

Most SQL is the same, there are a few differences such as in Access dates use Now() in MS SQL server you use GetDate()

Access uses true/false MS SQL server uses 1/0 as it doesn't have a true fales datatype, instead in has a bit datatype.

I can't think of anything else of han, but there are probally one or two.

so, will i be ok?

if i change little stuff like that?

and if i change the site to run off SQL (from the common.asp file)

will it still get the fields i've added? or do i have to change sum files? ... from wot ive heard round here it sounds like the MSSQL version of the database connections run off store procedures ... would i have to change them? or not?

or can i just keep the forum thinking its on Access till i work out the MSSQL?
