I am using Windows 2000 Advanced Server with Service Pack v3.

Any more ideas ? anyone ?

DOT NET or .Net as its called, is a collection of programming languages.. (C++.Net, Visual Basic.Net, ASP.Net, C#.Net, J#.Net, etc)

if you are running a webserver, its probably ASP.Net the guy is looking for.. you can download the .Net Framework and .Net SDK(Software Development Kit) from http://www.asp.net - http://www.asp.net ..

,net programs can be written for either the clinet or the server. Regardless of where there to run, the machine needs to have the .net framework installed. The framework is more than just languages. It is a collection of 3700 classes organized into libraries - name spaces. ASP 3.0 only has about 5 or six classes.

.NET is the MS answer to things like Java and WebObjects.

It will ensure that Microsoft will dominate for years to come because it allows you to program in *almost* any language and the program will run on any platform, theoretically.

We have yet to see a non-MS .NET runtime for a non-MS OS.

Go to http://www.gotdotnet.com - http://www.gotdotnet.com  and have a look. It should explain a lot.

Does anyone know if COM Callable Wrappers (non-.NET components wrapped into a .NET application) will function under the Unix CLR? I rather doubt it, but still curious.
