Anyone know if a component exists that analyses the first 10 seconds of an MP3 and coughs out a little wave of what the first 10 seconds of the song look like? It's a shot in the dark, but it might exist. Ta ta |

I've never heard of one that does that, but you might want to look into the Lame codec. The source is available, so that would help. The Thompson/Fraunhofer codec is really expensive.

Are you trying to verify a download is good or??? There was an app posted at the klite forum a while ago that looks at a hash when it starts to download to see if it's good. Not sure if that's what you're after?

To be honest, converting MP3 to WAV is a waste of time unless you need to work with the data. I'm working on an audio app at the moment that will publish audio on the web. Of course the first version will be complete "booger-ware". But after a few versions, I expect it will rise above that. Let me know what you want Gullanian, and perhaps I can work some of it into the app. A simple description with a mock-up JPG will do fine. PM me if want to send a direct email. Cheers
