I use DeZign. Works well for what I need. Been using it for a few years now, but haven't upgraded to the new v3.

I'm just curious to know what people are using...

Generally, I use pencil and paper to start...

I have been modelling with Erwin for years now and though others may be better I have to admit I just grown used to it.

Most of the larger companies I work for use Erwin, so that's what I use because it's there. I wouldn't call myself a good data modeler. I've seen good ones, and I ain't one. Not sure I'd recognize a better ERD if I tripped over it.

We use select compoent architect. Its pretty good at modelling and reversing an existing db into the model. It covers eveything from the business process management right down to C++/java etc code. But its a bugger to install and is very very expensive.

I think I use about 15% of it.

Anyone else use it?

I've never heard of Select Component Architect, so I don't know anything about it.

I use DeZign because it works and it affordable. I don't need to data model every day, so I can't justify thousands of dollars on one... Just me though.

I've used Erwin, but couldn't justify spending a few thousand on it because I don't need that much.

I can code well enough that the extras are just that.
