Hi, I get this strange behaviour on Brinkster. After I installed the forums, and logged in as Adminstrator (letmein) and clicked on "Admin", I got the following error message:

Active Server Pages error 'ASP 0126'

Include file not found

/fmcserver/forum/admin/webwizforums_license.asp, line 82

The include file 'includes/License.txt' was not found.

I put the file "License.txt" in the includes/ dir, but that didn't change anything. And another thing, when I press "Back" on my browser immediately after this, I get a LogIn-Box from Brinkster sometimes!!! It says "Connecting to Brinkster" and when I press Cancel, I get the following error message:

HTTP Error 401.1 - Unauthorized: Access is denied due to invalid credentials.
Internet Information Services (IIS)

This can happen 6-8 times in a row until I can finally access /forum/default.asp

LOL what's wrong?

OK I copied it into the wrong /includes, not into admin/includes/ so that's sorted. But I still get that LogIn Box frequently!!!

Any ideas?

BTW I didn't get that prior to installing WebWiz, if that helps.

Do you have session cookies turned on?

Thank you  for your replies. I have noticed that there is sometimes a slightly different error message:

HTTP Error 401.3 - Unauthorized: Access is denied due to an ACL set on the requested resource.
Internet Information Services (IIS)

I have also posted this at Brinkster and someone there too said that it is server related and probably has to do with session / cookies.
So I guess I have to stick with Brinkster on this one, unless anyone else has any other ideas?

Are you using the free hosting or the paid hosting?

Free hosting ATM. They did a server upgrade to IIS 6.0 about a week ago, you think that could be responsible for this mess?

Very confused now...the mysterious LogIn Box seems to have disappeared, maybe they fixed it, I also posted in the Brinkster forum. But now I can't log in to my site anymore! The following 2 things happen after I try to log in:

Either there is an error message. This happens whehter cookies are turned on or off, and with a cached and a non-cached page view:

Sorry, only members with sufficient permission can access this page.

A security error has occurred with authentication.
Please ensure that all cookies are enabled on your web browser, and you are not using a saved or cached copy of the page.

And there is a link to another forum:

Click 2 Exit - ACVI Drama Forum : Access Denied

which is located at

http://www34.brinkster.com/swiftsites/forum/default.asp - http://www34.brinkster.com/swiftsites/forum/default.asp

Or there is a message box with an Excl. mark saying "Sorry, the Username or Password entered is incorrect.
Please try again."

wtf? Is this a Brinkster server setup problem or what?

The setup of any free hosting services is a problem for running webwizforums.

To get around all the problems of free hosting accounts make sure that you follow the documentation that comes with the forum on how to install it on free hosting accounts.

If you don't because free hosting services stick everyone under the same IIS default site your forum will be effected by anyone else running web wiz forums on the web server.
